Half day - cleaning up and organizing.

Still waiting for a Lowe’s delivery, an hour behind as of now. Instead of hanging joist today I mulched in the grape vines more fully, started laying out the Hügelkultur bed for the fall, and cleaned up some wind debris, the sweeping winds like to rearrange anything not tied down. Started getting close to 100 and it was lunch time so the homestead will have to wait until the weather cools a little bit (Sunday from the forecast). It is nice, even when it feels like no progress is being made, that the small things add up and you start to see the homestead you had in your mind. How the geometry goes together is rewarding and creates memorable progress.

The Hügelkultur bed is 4’ x 25’ and has a Maple on grass base. Yes, the void is there on purpose, the current compost pile is sitting on a tarp since I didn’t know exactly where I wanted to put it before I started building the greenhouse. Once the cold snaps I will lay down the remaining wood and turn the compost pile to cover the bed this fall.
